Millburn-Short Hills and the surrounding communities offer a great variety of restaurants of all corners of the world and for every occasion. Some of my favorite places to spend a weekend unwinding are listed below.
La Focaccia, 523 Morris Ave., Summit (908) 277-4006
Northern Italian dining at a great price is an instant draw to this Summit eatery. Traditional Italian favorites are done
right and will keep diners coming back. The focaccia is, of course, made in-house. Local tip, BYOB!
The Hills Tavern, 40 Main St., Millburn (973) 376-4444
A new eatery offering great food enjoyed in a lively atmosphere with a very happening bar scene to enjoy on the weekends.
Common Lot, 27 Main St., Millburn (973) 467-0494
Hailed as one of the best new restaurants in Millburn, Common Lot serves us local, season dishes with a great upstairs dining room and a BYOB policy.
La Pergola, 120 Essex St., Millburn (973) 376-6838
Simple elegant Italian dining featuring house made pastas. These northern Italian dishes will be remembered. Local tip, BYOB.
Scalini Fedeli, 63 Main St., Chatham (973) 701-9200
Similar to its other half in Tribeca, New York City, Salini Fedeli is respected for its modern Italian cooking with a noticeable French flare. Scalini Fedeli was rated number one Italian and number one favorite in New Jersey overall in 2003.
Moonshine Modern Supper Club, 55 Main St., Millburn (973) 218-6042
The innovative drinks and well stocked bar might draw you for happy hour, but the menu featuring American classics in an
updated way will keep you for dinner. This modern supper club is a great for all meals or for a relaxing night at a good bar.
Restaurant Seranade, 6 Roosevelt Ave., Chatham (973) 701-0303
Located a few minutes away from the Short Hills Mall in Chatham, Serenade features an impressive list of wild seafood and innovative appetizers. Chef Laird and Serenade have been featured in the NY Times, the Wall St. Journal, and several morning shows for excellent cooking.
The Millburn Deli, 328 Millburn Ave., Millburn (973) 379-5800
The Millburn Deli An institution for locals, the Deli is packed on the weekends and during lunch times with hungry patrons waiting for their creative sandwiches and homemade iced tea.
Splurge Bakery, 105 Main Street, Millburn, 973-379-0740
Quickly gaining a repuation for the best birthday cakes and cupcakes. Splurge also has kids cooking classes that children can learn how to bake their favorite treats in a fun enviornment at a young age.
Haagen- Dasz, 358 Millburn Ave., Millburn (973) 379-9280
An integral part of downtown Millburn, this ice cream parlor is a favorite and always a good idea after the movies.
